Monster Mash

Image
I chose this painting for the "Monster Mash" assignment because it had really pretty colors and I also wanted one with water in it because I wanted to design a sea monster. I decided to do an amphibian type of monster. The sea monster Ogopogo inspired my creation because I've always thought the legend was really cool. The hardest part was trying to come up with a design for my monster, but once I did, the easiest and funnest part was editing and coloring it to make it look cool and realistic. https://www.google.ca/search?q=monsters&safe=strict&rlz=1C1GGRV_enCA762CA762&tbm=isch&source=lnt&tbs=sur:fmc&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjLtP-V3I7XAhWRyIMKHR2mBEcQpwUIHw&biw=1517&bih=735&dpr=0.9#imgrc=QZAvXwKB7DuBdM:

Toon Town Photo Bomb

Image
For this assignment, I picked a scene from a gay parade with lots of drag queens. I'm obsessed with the TV show "RuPaul's Drag Race", so I wanted a scene from there, but I couldn't find any copyright free ones so this is the next best thing. I don' exactly know the name of the character I put in this, but I do know he's from Disney channel. I chose him because the colors he is wearing look good with the background, and also because he's dancing like all of the other people in the photo. I have considered a career in the film making industry, I don't know how good I would be at making movies, but I know I would definitely enjoy it.  https://www.google.ca/search?q=drag+queens&safe=strict&rlz=1C1GGRV_enCA762CA762&tbm=isch&source=lnt&tbs=sur:fmc&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjvjOy484vXAhVh1oMKHa8fC94QpwUIHw&biw=1517&bih=681&dpr=0.9#imgrc=2APSAIqBlHEV8M: https://www.google.ca/search?q=disney+cartoon+characters&

Be True To Your School

Image
I think the design is effective in showcasing our school. It displays our school name (Blackville), our school colors (blue and gold) and our mascot (the eagle). The most challenging part of this assignment for me was getting the photos onto the bus, there were so many layers and it kept messing up on me. The easiest part was erasing parts of the photos and making them fit onto the bus. Although this was my favorite unit so far, I have no interest in digital art and design whatsoever. I get frustrated trying to figure out how the apps work and what to do for particular assignments. No, I would not want to work in auto detailing as part of a job, if there is anything I get more frustrated with than computers, it's cars. I don't want to work on them, restore them or anything else to do with them, just drive them.   https://www.google.ca/search?q=blackville+school+logo&safe=strict&rlz=1C1GGRV_enCA762CA762&tbm=isch&tbas=0&source=lnt&sa=X&ved=0ahUK

Before The War

Image
I selected this photo aside from the other one because it looked easier to fix. The most challenging part was fixing his face, trying to make it look normal and not blurred was extremely difficult. The easiest part was the background since it was just all white. No, I have never retouched/restored a photo before. I don't think I would want to do this as part of a job, it was very tedious and time consuming for me.

Freak of Nature

Image
For the Freak of Nature Assignment, I used a cat and a wolf of relatively the same color. I chose these two animals because they are pretty closely related in color and it looked fairly easy to blend them together. Considering I have never done anything like this before, I think figuring out how to use the app was the most challenging part, I had to start over at least six times. The easiest part for me was once I figured out how to do so, erasing part of the cats face and making it look more realistic. I think mine looks very realistic, considering I've never used photoshop before. I have never used an editing software before, but since this was so fun to do, I just might start.

Camera Techniques Slideshow

Camera Techniques

Within the five videos I have just watched, I learned many new camera techniques such as Point of View and Framing. With the first video I learned about the Rule of Thirds. I found this video so interesting and I could not get over how much better the photo looked when he used the rule. The second video talked about Filling the Frame, which is basically taking a more close up photo and more focused on one thing. I thought that this video was very helpful because I always tend to take photos from far away, but now I know better. The next video was all about Framing. This video was probably my favorite, since all the end photos look so good and it's such a simple technique to use. Another thing I learned about today was Point of View. The part I liked best about this video was how cool and unique each of the photos were, I would never think to turn the camera upside down and take a photo of a building, but maybe now I'll reconsider. The last video I watched was all about Leveling

Rationale: Digital Awareness Campaign

Image
The poster I created on Canva mostly focuses on the issues associated with Digital Wellness/Cyber bullying. The target audience for me was the parents of teens who use the internet quite often. I used the photo of a boy on his phone because I think it attracts people and they'll immediately know what my poster is focused on. The background color brings out the bright colored text I used, but its not too extravagant that it takes away from the poster itself. I think this poster will be very effective for parents. I included a fact that most parents might not know, but will definitely take into consideration. What I want people to take from this poster is that how dangerous social media can be, teens are being brainwashed all the time by seeing photos of photo shopped women and men online which leads to self-hatred and body image issues. I hope people really start to take more caution when online.

Journal Entry #8: Digital Law

Today in BBT I watched five videos about Digital Law. What I found most surprising about this unit was how serious copyright is and how extremely detailed it's conditions are. I always thought copyright was just a misdemeanor at most, but it turns out to be extremely serious to the law. Something I found confusing was trying to understand all the "exceptions" or "rules" to copyright. Also the Creative Commons video was kind of confusing. The videos were somewhat helpful in helping me understand some of these topics. I probably got the most knowledge out of the video on Public Domain and the one explaining Copyright in Canada, because they were the easiest to understand and plus they were shorter (I usually zone out in long videos). I found the website needhelpnow.com extremely helpful. I definitely think all young people should give this a read because I had no idea about some of the things I read on there before reading it.  When it comes to copyright, I think

Journal Entry #7: Digital Access

Today in BBT, I watched a video on Digital Access and Privacy. I don't believe internet access is a human right, however it is certainly something everyone should have access to if needed. There are so many issues that not having internet access will create, but if you do have access and abuse this opportunity, you shouldn't have it. I definitely don't think there are enough public places with WiFi. Even if a place does have wifi, we have no idea if it's secure or not, or even if it's the right network we're connecting to. I do be concerned about my privacy online, but I never usually do anything to help secure myself, which I probably should. I have Snapchat and Facebook secure so that nobody can view my profile unless they request me, and I should do this for more apps. Yes, I actually worry about this all the time. I've definitely posted some things I regret, such as embarrassing pictures or mean comments, and I worry this will effect me getting a job in

Assignment: Privacy Please

Situation #2   Pros: It would be easier for people to vote and maybe more wold participate. It would also be easier to count/calculate the votes. It would eliminate the fear of votes being counted incorrectly. Cons: May enable hackers to tamper with votes. System could glitch, and all information would be lost. People might not as much trust in a computer as they would a real person. Situation #3 Pros: It would be easy for parents to check their kids attendance and grades. Easy way to store information. No worries about ditching school. Cons: Website could be tampered with Information could be typed/submitted incorrectly People without internet access could have a difficult time seeing grades. Situation #5 Pros: Eliminate the need for homeschooling. Studying would be much easier and more efficient. Eliminate the costs of textbooks. Cons: People without internet access couldn't learn. It would be harder for people with verbal learning abili

Journal Entry #6: Digital Business

Today I watched a series of videos about Digital Business, which is basically online shopping. Something I found very surprising about this unit was how easy it is for someone to hack you! Just by not keeping your software updated you can enable someone to retrieve all your online data. I've never heard of any of these, but I researched it and it's basically where you can send someone money by email or phone number through the app. I purchase things online quite often and my experiences have usually been positive. Although you get the odd "doesn't look like the picture" piece of clothing, I've never had a traumatizing online shopping experience. I always sell my formal dresses online, and all of experiences have been positive. I always get the amount I asked for and I always get positive feedback. I think the biggest issue with teens is that they aren't careful enough online. Before this unit I didn't have any idea what a "secure" website was

Journal Entry #5: Digital Wellness

Today I watched several videos in regard to Digital Wellness. I usually do think about how technology can have a negative effect on our wellness, but I don't take in to consideration how bad it can get. When it comes to me, I love cooking. Once, me and my friend made cookies and brownies and neither of us touched our phones for almost 3 hours. We were both just really focused on the food and each other. I think the biggest issue with teens is that they get self conscious easily when they see all the photo shopped pictures of women on social media. Nobody looks like that, and it makes them feel negatively about their own bodies, which leads to depression and other mental illnesses.

Journal Entry #4: Digital Etiquette

Today in BBT, I watched another series of videos about Digital Etiquette. When it comes to this topic, I find it very surprising and disturbing about some of the stuff in the terms and conditions of certain apps. In my opinion, I definitely don't think most internet users read the terms and conditions before joining a site. They definitely should though, when it comes to myself I hadn't known the weird and almost scary things i had agreed to and i think everyone should know what they say before just hitting "I agree". I think I would rate myself about a 7 when it comes to how I behave online. I almost never use copyright free photos, I sometimes say things online that I regret, and I never read the terms and conditions. But, at least I'm not a hacker or or something worse. One thing I have learned in this unit that I will apply to my everyday life is to always read the terms and conditions. I honestly never ever read anything in those but now I'm gonna make su
