My Basic Automobile Design

Image
We attempted to make a sedan style car, although it ended up looking more like Henry Ford's Model T from the 1910s. One thing that we would want to include in our final design that we did not put in our first phase design was heated seats, air conditioner, and four windows, four doors, a windshield, and Bluetooth. The name that we will give our car is the "Sahara".  The manufacturer that would be best suited to manufacture are design would be Ford because  it already kind of resembles a model T, and everything Ford manufactures is awesome anyways. The target market would definitely not be young drivers, probably people who enjoy old cars and like the look of them plus know how to handle them. My best guess would be men around 30 - 60. I would say this assignment was a 7/10. I hate using tinkercad, but it was definitely easier than the concert stage. Click to see our design

3D Printed Car

Do you think the use of 3D printing can help car designers? Why or why not? No, I don't think it helped car designers at all. In fact, I think it's kind of a waste of time. If we already have a method of building cars that is fast, and works perfectly then there's no need to try and make it more technical, especially if i's going to take longer than the previous method. Do you think that cars would ever be manufactured this way? Explain your reasoning. I think that if we ever find a way to manufacture these types of cars faster and more efficient then maybe people would manufacture them this way, but if not then most car producers will probably stick to the old way and continue making the cars in a way suitable for everybody. What would you create with a 3D printer? It could be a car, part of a car or any other item. Discuss. I would create a couch with a 3D printer. It sounds weird, but I think it would be cool to have a couch in any style, color or print you

Automobile Body Styles and Design

Image
Automobile Body Styles #1) Sedan - A sedan is just your average car, the ones most people have. They usually have four seats, and are known as the "three box design". An example of a sedan would be the Hyundai Elantra. #2) Truck -  A truck is a light motor vehicle with an open rear cargo area known as a ‘bed'. Trucks are often available in two or four doors, with bed options such as "half ton", "crew cab" and "regular cab". All provide different functions, to fit all your lugging and driving needs. An example of a truck is a Ford F-150. #3) Convertible - A convertible is a car with a body style that has a fold able or retractable roof. They are often two doors. The roofs can be made from vinyl, plastic or aluminum. An example of a convertible would be the BMW 650i.   #4) Hatchback - A hatchback is a car with a sloping back and a hinged trunk that opens upwards. These cars are more compact than SUVs, MPVs or vans. They us

Careers and Certification in the Automotive Industry

Careers in the Automotive Industry The automobiles today have features like stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control and variable valve timing. To have a career as an automotive technician, young people should have expertise in maths, sciences, communication skills and technical skills. Some advantages of being an automotive technician are that you don't have to attend college as long, which ultimately saves you getting into a lot of college debts, and you can get into the working world faster. In the technician field, they predict we will have a 30% growth, with up to 237,500 new jobs available in 2020. The automotive technician family is immune to outsourcing jobs. Four jobs in the automotive technician industry are: parts distribution, collision repair, painting, and vehicle maintenance. The automotive technician role is sometimes called “The Portal Career” because so many people have started their careers in the automotive aftermarket a

Emerging Technologies and Automobiles

Technologies in Development 1.) I think that out of all the emerging technologies, the flying car is the least likely to happen. Most of the others seem realistic, but a flying car just sounds too out of this world. 2.) I think that the Next-Gen Active Safety Features will have the biggest impact on society. If there's a way to decrease accidents, or just make the roads a safer place in general I think the public would jump at the chance, I know I would. 3.) The Autonomous Cars is the obvious answer, it literally says in the article that "self driving cars" are already a reality, so it's just a matter of time until everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. 4.) The first video that i watched discussed Fords “Driver Workload Estimator” which is a bio metric sensing system, i think that this technology could help keep drivers and their passengers be safer because people nowadays would much rather read a text message, answer a phone call, or even play a game on th

The History of the Automobile

Carl Benz Cars have been around for about 120 years. A patent is a government authority or license confirming a right to title for a set period, especially to the sole right to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention.  Carl Benz used patentmotocar to describe the car. His wife drove his invention, this created the invention of the first petral station. This system helped solve the problem of steering the two front wheels at the same time. The merge created the name "Mercedes Benz" Benz got to see his dream come true. Henry Ford and the Model T The assembly line sped up manufacturing practices by making 10 cars in the time it took other companies 1 by hand. The model T's were introduced 1909 and sold for $950. Henry Ford reduced the work day from 9 hours to 8 hours so he could have people working around the clock, but in 3 shifts. The model T had 20 horsepower. Three of the body styles that were manufactured were 2 door, 4 door and c
