Emerging Technologies and Automobiles

Technologies in Development

1.) I think that out of all the emerging technologies, the flying car is the least likely to happen. Most of the others seem realistic, but a flying car just sounds too out of this world.

2.) I think that the Next-Gen Active Safety Features will have the biggest impact on society. If there's a way to decrease accidents, or just make the roads a safer place in general I think the public would jump at the chance, I know I would.

3.) The Autonomous Cars is the obvious answer, it literally says in the article that "self driving cars" are already a reality, so it's just a matter of time until everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.

4.) The first video that i watched discussed Fords “Driver Workload Estimator” which is a bio metric sensing system, i think that this technology could help keep drivers and their passengers be safer because people nowadays would much rather read a text message, answer a phone call, or even play a game on their phones then drive and be safe, so by having a bio metric sensing system the drivers and passengers in the car would be much safer.

5.) My thoughts are kind of all over the place when it comes to the flying automobile because they could be such a great advantage and a great disadvantage. Some of the disadvantages about the flying automobile is that lets say you are flying over the river maybe the automobile will break or something happens to it then you have no way out you drown, some of the advantages of the flying automobile is that you may be able to get your driver's license at a young age or not even need them since your not actually driving, and you can get where you want to go ten times faster but yet again would there not be a lot of traffic in the sky if everyone has a flying car?

6.) I agree that it would result in fewer accidents because the generation today don't care if they ever get to drive as long as they have a cell phone in there face, and if they do want to drive there going to drive without their licenses anyways so really there's no happy medium, kids these days do what they want and if they can do it without killing someone in a car that would be even better.

Tech for the Sake of Tech?

No, I don't find it surprising at all. Millennials are constantly in a rush, and they don't seem like they have time to stop and do anything.

I think the other technologies make the roads a safer place, the adaptive cruise control would stop people from swerving on the road while looking at their cell phones, but since they're not driving, it gives them more opportunity to look at their phones, so it goes both ways.

My family barely knows how to use an iPhone, so they can go easily without all the new technologies. Myself on the other hand, I enjoy some of the technology in vehicles like the GPS and the Bluetooth connectivity. As for options like blind spot warnings and cruise control, I don't think it is needed and I personally think it makes people worse drivers, we need to learn how to drive normally in case the technology ever stops working.

I love the fact that we can connect our cell phones to our cars, it makes it a lot easier to talk on the phone, and we don't spend nearly as much time changing the radio stations since we can pick and choose our own music.

I think that maybe fuel injected vehicles might lead people to believe they're useless, I know I think it's kinda pointless. If the cars already run properly, no need in making them better right?
